A full house, great success, outstanding professionalism, wonderful conversations, and carefree moments at the Startup Safari Day 0 event – nearly 80 participants joined us on June 10, 2024, at Impact Hub Budapest!
We are immensely grateful to everyone who joined us and contributed to the event’s success. Your presence and presentations further elevated the quality of the programs!
The Startup Safari this year was held over two days at Budapest’s coolest downtown venues. The event’s goal has always been to provide insight into the domestic and international startup world, facilitate knowledge sharing, and build a community. After the past two challenging years, we had a rare and intensive opportunity for this. On Day 0 at Impact Hub Budapest, we focused on the ecosystem, organized by HunBAN and TokePortal.com, with support from CIB Bank.
We met some of Hungary’s and the region’s most influential figures: investors, innovative minds, technology and business experts, entrepreneurs, and success stories. The event offered participants a unique opportunity to learn about the latest technological developments and business trends. The exciting and colorful program focused on the drivers of sustainable development in the startup ecosystem: incubation and crowdfunding.
You can relive the event’s atmosphere in a short video here:
We heard outstanding keynote presentations and exciting panel discussions from the ecosystem’s most influential and recognized figures. Beatrix Bedő introduced the mission and services of Impact Hub Budapest in her presentation, followed by the first panel discussion on Impact investments, moderated by Beatrix Bedő. Participants included beloved ecosystem figures such as Szabolcs Szakacsits (Tuxera), Antal Károlyi (SignCoders), and Elemér Eszter (Impact Ventures), who shared valuable insights on the topic.
Continuing the fantastic series of programs, we listened to a captivating panel discussion by the HunBAN association on early-stage financing, the investor environment, and trends for 2024. The conversation was led by Orsolya Csetri (OXO Holdings, HunBAN) with participants Dániel Gockler (Nesprit), Dénes Kovácsházy (MULTICOM Group), and Erik Szabó (White Unicorn, Goroid Ventures).
Then, Tamás Barathi, founder of Blue Colibri App, reported on why it’s worth building a professional community from clients and how they become ambassadors. We also heard a keynote from Szabolcs Szakacsits, the 2023 Philanthropist Investor of the Year, on Philanthropy and Inclusivity in Investments.
In the “Why should I do crowdfunding?” panel, we explored crowdfunding as an alternative financing tool, moderated by Nóra Szeles, CEO of TokePortal.com. Joining the discussion were Tibor Hudák (I Love Póló), a former campaigner, and Ivett Hajnal-Bukor, representing their current campaign Tea Solar. They shared the advantages of crowdfunding through their experiences, highlighting that thanks to their campaigns launched on TokePortal.com, they not only gained new fruitful recognition but also formed a business partnership: I Love Póló now manufactures promotional products for Tea-Shop.
Zoltán Csiba, founder of tfink, shared his thoughts on “The labyrinths of international opening & presence from the perspective of CEE fintechs,” while István Fetter, Head of Segment Management for Small Businesses at CIB Bank, detailed the banking services offered to small businesses.
We concluded the series of roundtable discussions with a talk on financial awareness led by Ivett Angyal (EIT Digital). Notable and well-known participants included István Fetter (CIB Bank), Péter Oszkó (Oxo Holding), György Vuray (Vállalkozás Okosan), and Bálint Molnár (DigitalTech EDIH fintech expert), who shared exemplary thoughts and experiences, further enhancing the professional quality of the discussion.
The professional program of the event ended with an exhilarating pitch competition where several of our current campaigners competed, including István Bokó from Meskete.hu and Gergely Prémecz, founder of MelonApp. The pitchers had 3 minutes to present themselves before a highly esteemed and recognized jury, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session where they answered experts’ questions.
Ultimately, Zoltán Papp, representing the CEO of EV.analytica, emerged as the winner, receiving a unique investment opportunity from Szabolcs Szakacsits as a prize.
We crowned the unforgettable day with a pleasant catering experience, lively conversations, and networking, gaining valuable connections.
