How to become a business angel – that was the main topic of our latest event, where angel investors and equity crowdfunding campaign initiators were in the spotlight.
HubHub Király Street provides quality office spaces and supports local ecosystems. That was the perfect venue for the event in the middle of the vibrant Király Street in Budapest. A large audience was welcomed by Iván Ivánka, Business Development and Partnerships Manager of HubHub. Eszter Szabó, president of the Women/Business/Angels Association, introduced the importance of the coed investment culture.
As a pioneer of Hungarian equity crowdfunding, Tokeportal.hu is implementing the international practice of platform-based investment in compliance with the domestic legislation, said Nóra Szeles. She also briefly presented the campaign launch process.
“The relationship between an investor and an entrepreneur is like a marriage, except that the divorce is planned and desirable,” said Beatrix Bedő, angel investor presenter of the evening and the founder of Impact Hub Budapest. She has presented the most important steps of becoming a business angel based on her personal experiences. In addition to her own investments, Beatrix mentors and prepares a number of companies for later capital raising.

The lectures were followed by a pitch session, which finally introduced the first campaigns on Tokeportal.hu to the audience. The pitches and the jury were led by Andrea Dintsér (YourStory.hu), with Beatrix Bedő (Impact Hub Budapest), Zoltán Csillag (Budapest Enterprise Agency) Ivánka Ivánka (HubHub) and Dr. Katalin Kovács (ALTFInator) sitting in the jury. The audience was also active in asking questions.

The evening’s last pitch was given by one of Impact Hub Budapest’s mentees. Laura Jóföldi presented Romama Food Truck project, which was finalist of Social Impact Award Hungary 2019. Their mission is to bring social enterprise to a successful end by eliminating geographical isolation and spreading gipsy food culture.
